About this webinar
Useful feedback helps someone understand what they are doing well or what needs to change, without leaving them to guess what was meant. In this session, we’ll work on how to make those conversations clearer and how to respond when you are receiving feedback yourself.
You’ll learn to describe a specific behaviour, explain its effect and make a request that the other person can act on. We’ll use the observation, feeling, need and request framework to explore how you might express a concern in language that feels appropriate for your workplace.
We’ll also consider the receiving side, including how to pause when feedback feels uncomfortable, ask for an example and check your understanding before deciding what to do with it. You’ll practise responding when the message is unclear or you see the situation differently.
You are welcome to bring a feedback conversation to prepare during the session. We’ll include positive feedback and look at how an agreed action and follow-up can make the discussion more useful.
What you will learn
· Describe what you have observed and its impact, avoiding vague labels or judgements about someone’s character.
· Use the observation, feeling, need and request framework to prepare specific, actionable feedback.
· Ask for examples, clarify the message and respond thoughtfully when feedback is unexpected or difficult to hear.
· Agree what happens next and how to review progress, while making positive feedback clear enough to repeat the behaviour.
Who this session is for
Managers, HR professionals, team leaders and anyone who gives or receives feedback at work, whether in an informal conversation or a formal review.
You will leave with a prepared feedback example, questions to use when receiving feedback and a clear approach to agreeing action and following up.
