About this webinar

People may be willing to contribute when a discussion is straightforward, but find it harder to question a decision, admit a mistake or share disappointing news. This session examines what leaders can do to make those conversations easier while maintaining clear expectations.

We’ll explore what psychological safety means in everyday working relationships and how it sits alongside high standards and accountability. You’ll consider how hierarchy, time pressure and your own responses can affect whether colleagues feel able to speak openly.

Using the RECEIVE structure from our leadership workshop, we’ll practise responding to difficult information with curiosity and agreeing what happens next. We’ll also look at ways to invite different views in meetings, including from people who are less likely to speak first.

You’ll have time to review one of your own leadership habits and plan a small change to try with your team over the following month.

What you will learn

· Understand psychological safety and recognise why agreement or silence does not necessarily mean people feel able to speak openly.

· Identify how your response to a concern, mistake or different opinion may influence future contributions.

· Use RECEIVE to listen, explore what you have heard and agree an appropriate response or next step.

· Adapt a meeting or team conversation to invite different views, and plan how to review whether the change is helping.

Who this session is for

People managers, senior leaders, HR and learning and development professionals, and anyone responsible for how a team communicates and works together.

You will leave with a structure for receiving difficult information, a practical change to try in a team meeting and a 30-day plan for reviewing its effect.
