Head of Human Resources / People Lead
We are partnering with a high-performing, boutique investment bank to appoint its first dedicated HR Manager / People Lead.
This is a rare opportunity to build a people function from the ground up within a sophisticated, entrepreneurial financial services environment experiencing strong, private-equity-led growth. You will play a pivotal role in shaping structure, culture, and talent as the business enters its next phase of scale.

Your primary objective will be to bring clarity, structure, and confidence to the UK people agenda, while acting as a trusted advisor to senior partners.

The Role

People structure & accountability
- Redesign team structure and formalise reporting lines
- Establish clear role accountability, resourcing plans, and decision rights
- Implement people reporting, appraisal processes, and performance clarity
- Lead end-to-end talent acquisition, including agency management
- Build performance management, coaching, and career-mapping frameworks
- Design and deliver training and development programmes aligned to business growth
- Partner closely with senior leaders and founders
- Navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and strong personalities with confidence
- Shape and evolve the firm’s culture as it scales, without diluting performance standards
This role will suit someone who enjoys building rather than inheriting, and who thrives in high-expectation, fast-moving environments.
You are likely to bring:
- Experience within private equity, M&A boutiques, asset management, or adjacent financial services
- Strong stakeholder influence, emotional intelligence, and commercial judgement
- Confidence operating without heavy policy or established HR infrastructure
- Resilience and credibility when working with senior partners
- A pragmatic, human approach to complex people challenges
- Salary range: £85,000–£120,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates
- Four-day week or senior part-time (2–4 days) considered
- London-based role with a high degree of autonomy and visibility
